Playing Field: Clear   Atchley and O’Kane

is the project of vocalist Kattt Atchley and percussionist Suki O’Kane. They incubated tonight’s collaboration at the Milk Bar beginning in the summer of 2018 as an improvising trio with the bird residing in the Milk Bar rafters. The bird has since moved on or their sound expanded, and a duo remains to ply their alchemical strategy of voice, bass drum, percussion, and feedback to create a unified sound that envelopes both performer and listener. Autopoiesis : Holt and McDonas

Autopoiesis is a collaborative work-in-progress between Allison Leigh Holt and Thollem McDonas, and was conceived as part of ‘Technicolor Grey Zone’, a multimedia collaboration that includes the moving image works of Martha Colburn (U.S./Holland), Tuia Cherici (Italy/France), ACVilla (U.S.), Germaul Barnes (U.S.), and Peter Sparling (U.S.). Thollem has worked with each of these artists on various projects throughout North America and Europe including Maxxi Museum (Rome), Teatro Centre Municipal Culture (Gap, France), Teatro do Campo Alegre (Porto, Portugal), University of Illinois, Central Park Summer Stage Festival, Philadelphia Museum of Art, New Museum, SF MOMA, Crowley Theater, San Diego Institute of Art, Crystal Bridges, Toledo Museum of Art, Trinosophes, Pioneer Works, Northwest Film Forum, SITE Santa Fe, Sundance, Rotterdam Film Festival and more.

The term autopoiesis refers to the efforts all organisms make to maintain an inner equilibrium in the face of an ever-changing environment, contending with what works in concert with their internal systems and what doesn’t in a variety of ways. Much like a murmuration of starlings, this ongoing process of self-adjustment is always unique.

Truth/Project : Talli Jackson

Subjectively true. Ambiguous honesty. Opaque transparent. Sometimes we choose our reality. Sometimes we choose the reality we choose. We cannot choose the realities we choose to choose.

Talli Jackson was born and raised in Liberty, NY. He was a member of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Company from 2009 to 2017. During that time he originated roles in ten evening-length works and was involved with the re-staging and extensive touring of some of Jones’ and Zane’s pioneering duets, including Monkey Run Road (1979), Blauvelt Mountain 1980) and Valley Cottage (1981). In addition to his work with the Bill T Jones/Arnie Zane Co., he has had the pleasure of working as a freelance artist with The Francesca Harper Project, Paul Matteson, Erick Montes, Joseph Poulson, and The Vanaver Caravan. He was a recipient of full scholarships from the American Dance Festival in ‘06 and ’08, the Bates Dance Festival, and the Ailey School. In 2013, Talli was honored with a Princess Grace Award in dance.
